CITY OF GALLUP

Mountain biking. Real cowboys and Indians. Rodeos. Fabulous Native jewelry and art. On top of that Gallup was named America’s most Patriotic Small Town by Rand McNally! A visit to Gallup has something to entertain everyone. For an artistic look at the region’s history and culture there’s Gallup’s Mural Walking Trail. The city and its community partners have commissioned 27 murals so far, and all within a walkable downtown.

Cultural Center

Gallup Cultural Center celebrates the region’s rich and ancient Native American culture. The two-story stucco building is the historic Santa Fe Depot (and current Amtrak stop) on the original Santa Fe rail line line dating to the early 20th century. The Center presents Native American dancers and artists several times weekly during the summer.

Trains

Fans of trains will appreciate the importance that the rail lines still hold in Gallup. Today the line is part of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad on their critical intermodal line from Los Angeles to Chicago. Visitors to Gallup will see and hear the trains passing right through downtown.

Courthouse Square

Courthouse Square in downtown Gallup hosts weekend fun and cultural activities throughout the warm weather months. Locals and visitors alike gather for arts & craft fairs, Native American dances, free concerts, dance parties and other fun family activities.
