Los Alamos National Laboratory

Currently, this town houses the Los Alamos National laboratory and the Bradbury Science Museum. Here, you can see exhibits detailing the science that was undertaken in the area and get a greater understanding of the people who have worked here and what they accomplished.

The Very Large Array

Driving South from Los Alamos, you will pass Sandia National laboratories on your way to the Very Large Array. Located south of Albuquerque, the Very Large Array is a Radio Astronomy Observatory where scientists seek to answer questions such as: planet formation, When and how the galaxies formed and how supermassive black holes form.

White Sands

After visiting the Very Large Array, you can go East if you want to learn about New Mexico’s Alien History. In South Eastern New Mexico, you can visit the UFO Museum in Roswell followed by a night under the stars in White Sands.

Chaco Canyon

If you are traveling during the summer solstice, we recommend going North west from the Very Large Array toward Chaco Canyon. At Chaco Canyon, you can see the Lunar Markings on Fajada Butte. These marks record the equinoxes and solstices as well as the 18.6-year cycle of the lunar standstills.

Meteor Crator

From Chaco Canyon, you should continue west, spending the night at the El Rancho Hotel in Gallup, NM. The next day, you should continue toward Meteor Crater which is the best preserved meteor impact site in the World.

Petrified Forest

After viewing Meteor Crater, you should continue onto the Petrified Forest where there are the remains of a coniferous forest from the Triassic period. The area is filled with fossilized prehistoric plants and animals as well as dinosaur tracks.

The Grand Canyon

From the Painted Desert, you should continue onto the geological wonder which is the Grand Canyon.

Biosphere in Tuscon

At this point, if you have time to spare, you should continue onto the Biosphere 2 in Tucson, Arizona.
